Jeremy also shared what initially attracted him to the realm of cartooning and artistry.
“My goal has always been to utilize art as a means to uncover solutions for my own life challenges. Then, to convey these messages in a way that others can relate to and integrate into their own lives.
I developed my minimalist, haiku-style comic stories to communicate simple yet profound messages of change and personal growth. This is just one form of art that I create; I typically work across various mediums including giant public sculptures worldwide, paintings, museum installations, and our street art project, the #JeremyvilleCSA messages. We now have approximately 5,000 CSA messages, a project I initiated back in 2010.”

When asked about the essence or theme behind his comics, Jeremy explained: “I approach the comic stories more like songs or poems, rather than throwaway gag cartoons. I don’t refer to them as cartoons; I believe they’re something deeper, akin to short stories or scenes from a movie. They capture a vignette of a feeling.
I often revisit them, pausing to immerse myself in each panel’s world before moving to the next. I enjoy reading them slowly, getting lost in the emotions they evoke. While I can’t fully grasp how others perceive them, the comments I receive suggest a similar experience. There’s a genuine, human connection to them, and I’m grateful for that. It makes the process worthwhile.
I also strive to keep them sparse and neutral, often drawing figures in a way that could be interpreted as either male or female, aiming for universality. I leave out intricate details so that others can project their own emotions onto them. This mirrors how the songs I love work for me: simple enough to become deeply personal.”

Jeremy shared insight into his creative process and how he generates ideas.
“I often kickstart my day early, reaching for my diary while still half-awake. I draw a 4-square grid on each page—one quadrant for work projects, another for exercise, one for personal commitments, and the last for a comic or a painting sketch. This way, creativity is ingrained in my daily routine, and I feel unsettled if I haven’t captured an idea for the day.
Later, during any free moments, I’ll revisit my diary and bring one of the comic ideas to life.
My ideas stem from half-remembered dreams, fleeting feelings, or observations in nature. For instance, witnessing two birds in love perched on my windowsill became the essence of a comic I created.
It’s those little moments in life that hold beauty—the small joys, our aspirations for change, our longing for love. That’s where I draw my inspiration from,” shared Jeremy.

Jeremy described his goals regarding audience takeaways: “My main aim is to foster a growing connection with them, encouraging anticipation for the next stories I create. This, to me, validates the #JeremyvilleComicStories series, as I strive to connect and communicate with people on a sincere and genuine level.”
Finally, the artist added: “Discover your own unique method of expressing those inner thoughts and emotions that often remain unspoken and concealed. Whether it’s through poetry, drawing, crafting, or any other medium, finding this outlet for self-expression unveils truths about ourselves, liberates us, and illuminates our path forward in life.”
