U.S. Launches Airstrikes Targeting Three Iranian Nuclear Sites

Trump Confirms U.S. Airstrikes on Iranian Nuclear Sites: Fordow, Natanz, Isfahan Hit
Former U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that American forces had carried out coordinated airstrikes against three key Iranian nuclear facilities Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. Posting the statement on his Truth Social account, Trump said that the mission had been executed successfully and that all U.S. aircraft involved had exited Iranian airspace without incident.

“We have just completed a highly successful operation targeting three of Iran’s nuclear locations, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan,” Trump wrote. “A full payload was delivered to Fordow, and every aircraft has safely departed Iranian skies. Congratulations to our brave American service members. No other military on Earth could have accomplished this. Now is the time for peace. Thank you.”
The strike followed a noticeable uptick in U.S. military preparations over recent days. Defense sources had reported the forward deployment of B-2 stealth bombers to Guam, raising speculation about potential involvement in Middle East operations. Though the Pentagon had not formally linked the move to rising tensions between Iran and Israel, analysts believed it was part of a broader posture shift.

The B-2 Spirit, capable of deploying the 30,000-pound GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator—a bomb specifically designed to destroy fortified underground bunkers—is seen as a key asset in any attempt to neutralize deeply buried nuclear facilities like Fordow.
Military observers are also watching closely to see if the U.S. will reposition strategic bombers to Diego Garcia, a joint U.S.-U.K. base in the Indian Ocean. B-2s had previously been stationed there until their recent replacement by B-52s.
Tensions in the region remain high, particularly as Iran and Israel continue their hostilities. On Saturday, Israel claimed it had targeted and killed a high-ranking Iranian military official. In response, Tehran reiterated its stance that it will not engage in nuclear negotiations while under the threat of military force.
Israel maintains that Iran is on the verge of developing nuclear weapons, while Iran insists its nuclear ambitions are for civilian energy and research purposes.
Trump also stated that he would take up to two weeks to determine whether the U.S. would provide direct support to Israel, suggesting that he hoped “people come to their senses” before further escalation occurs.
Earlier reports from Reuters noted a spike in American military logistics, including the deployment of aerial refueling aircraft to Europe and the repositioning of a U.S. aircraft carrier from the Indo-Pacific to the Middle East. Additional fighter aircraft have reportedly been dispatched to bolster the regional presence.
