The son of Sultan Rahi has expressed criticism toward The Legend of Maula Jatt.

The Pakistani film The Legend of Maula Jatt is a modern remake of the iconic 1979 Punjabi movie Maula Jatt, which was a major hit both in Pakistan and internationally. The original film, written by Nasir Adeeb and produced by Muhammad Sarwar Bhatti, was directed by Yunus Malik.

In recent years, Amarah Hikmat and Bilal Lashari took on the challenge of reimagining Maula Jatt, bringing together a star-studded cast, with the same scriptwriter. Their version became a major success, with its cinematography drawing heavy inspiration from Hollywood films, contributing to its impressive box office performance.

Recently, Haider Sultan, the son of Sultan Rahi, expressed his criticism of the modern remake of Maula Jatt. He also revealed that he is working on a new project titled Son of Maula Jatt, which will be released soon.

In the Samaa TV podcast hosted by Ukasha Gul, he discussed the remake of the film, stating that while the production was good, it didn’t do justice to the original movie. He mentioned that the Hollywood-style filming was a positive aspect, as it helped boost business.

However, he felt that Fawad Khan wasn’t the right fit for the character, which was meant to portray a strong, honorable man, and Fawad didn’t stand out in the role. He also suggested that Mahira Khan’s character could have been played by a more authentic Punjabi Jatti.

According to Ukasha, Humaima Malick and Hamza Ali Abbasi gave standout performances, even outshining the main leads. He concluded that the film lost its authenticity in its attempt to mimic Hollywood.
