King of the Hill’ is returning to TV on Hulu after 15 years.

‘King of the Hill’ Returns: Beloved Animated Series Gets New Life on Hulu
After spending over a decade off the air, King of the Hill is making a long-awaited comeback with an all-new season set to debut on Hulu.
Originally running from 1997 to 2010, the series spanned 13 seasons and over 250 episodes, becoming a cult favorite for its gentle humor, emotional depth, and realistic depiction of small-town life in America. Centered in the fictional community of Arlen, Texas, the show followed Hank Hill, a propane salesman whose conservative sensibilities often clashed with the quirks of his family and neighbors.
What made King of the Hill stand out was its earnest tone eschewing the wild absurdity of other adult cartoons in favor of grounded storytelling.
Now, 15 years since its last episode aired, the show is returning with Season 14, expected to premiere later this summer. Fans attending the ATX TV Festival on Friday, May 30, will be treated to a first glimpse of the upcoming season during a special panel.
The panel will feature series creators Mike Judge and Greg Daniels, along with new showrunner Saladin K. Patterson and voice actors Pamela Adlon, Toby Huss, and Lauren Tom. Following the discussion, a barbecue event reminiscent of the show’s backyard scenes will cap off the celebration.
It remains uncertain whether the exclusive footage shown at the panel will be released to the public, making the festival appearance a rare opportunity for early access.
What to Expect in the Revival
Season 14 is said to be set in contemporary times, incorporating a significant time jump from where the original series left off. This shift allows the show to explore how the Hill family and their neighbors are navigating the evolving landscape of modern America.
Though much of the new storyline remains under wraps, it’s confirmed that characters will have aged in real time. Among the most notable changes is Bobby Hill’s career path he’s now an aspiring chef based in Dallas, which is expected to contrast humorously and meaningfully with his father Hank’s more old-school mindset.
As for the rest of the Arlen cast, details are still emerging. The revival will also address how the show handles the loss of characters voiced by actors who have since passed away.
Who’s Returning?
A large portion of the original voice cast is coming back. Mike Judge returns as Hank Hill, alongside Kathy Najimy (Peggy), Stephen Root (Bill), Pamela Adlon (Bobby), and Lauren Tom (Minh). Their return is expected to recapture the heart and humor that made the series a fan favorite.
However, some characters face uncertain futures. The deaths of Brittany Murphy (Luanne) and Tom Petty (Lucky) leave open questions about their roles in the revival. It is also unconfirmed whether Toby Huss will reprise his role as Kahn.
One of the most emotional elements of Season 14 is the inclusion of Dale Gribble. Johnny Hardwick, who voiced the beloved character, had completed work on several episodes before his passing in August 2023. His return is sure to be a poignant moment for longtime fans.
