Kid Cudi Testifies That Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Broke Into His Home, Allegedly Linked to Arson

New York – Rapper Kid Cudi took the stand Thursday in federal court in Manhattan, alleging that music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs broke into his Los Angeles home in 2011 after learning about Cudi’s brief relationship with R&B singer Cassie, Combs’ ex-girlfriend. Cudi, whose real name is Scott Mescudi, also claimed that his car was set on fire shortly afterward and strongly implied Combs was responsible.

Testifying during Combs’ sex trafficking and racketeering trial, Cudi detailed how he had taken Cassie to a hotel in West Hollywood in an effort to shield her from Combs’ anger. While there, he said, he received a phone call from Capricorn Clark, Combs’ assistant, who told him she had been forced to accompany Combs and another individual as they entered Cudi’s home.

Cudi recounted calling Combs while rushing home and asking why he had entered his house. According to Cudi, Combs replied in a calm tone, saying, “I want to talk to you.” However, when Cudi arrived, Combs was no longer there. He discovered that gifts he had wrapped for his family had been tampered with, and his dog had been locked in a bathroom. Feeling unsettled, Cudi called the police.

Weeks later, Cudi’s Porsche 911 convertible was destroyed in a suspected arson attack. While he was away, a dog-sitter called to inform him that his car was ablaze in the driveway. Cudi said photos presented in court showed the interior burned and the soft top cut open. He also testified that a Molotov cocktail had been found inside the car.

Cassie, whose legal name is Casandra Ventura, had testified the previous week that Combs threatened to set Cudi’s car on fire and harm him after learning about their relationship. Cudi told the court he had no other conflicts at the time and was convinced Combs was involved in the fire, prompting an objection from the defense. The judge instructed the jury to disregard that specific remark.

Cudi Meets With Combs After the Incident
The day after the fire, Cudi said he met Combs at a hotel in Los Angeles to try to deescalate the situation. He recalled asking Combs, “What are we going to do about my car?” to which Combs allegedly responded with a cold stare and said, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Though he believed Combs was being dishonest, Cudi let the matter drop and said there were no further incidents. Several years later, Cudi testified, Combs apologized during an unexpected meeting at a hotel.

Combs appeared calm as Cudi delivered his testimony, but neither man acknowledged the other. Dressed in jeans and a leather jacket, Cudi arrived at court under an umbrella in the rain and did not speak to reporters upon leaving.

Combs, now 55, faces serious charges including sex trafficking and racketeering, all of which he denies. He also denies Cassie’s claims that he coerced her and others into participating in so-called “freak-offs”—sexually charged encounters involving drugs, baby oil, and hot wax.

Defense Portrays Cassie as Manipulative
During cross-examination, defense attorney Brian Steel attempted to shift blame to Cassie, suggesting she misled both men and maintained a secret double life. Cudi acknowledged that when their relationship began in 2011, Cassie had told him she was no longer seeing Combs. However, Cassie testified that she was still in contact with Combs at the time, using a burner phone to keep Cudi in the dark.

“She was living two different lives, wasn’t she?” Steel asked.

“Yes,” Cudi responded.

Cudi admitted he had fallen for Cassie and was hurt when she returned to Combs.

Additional Witnesses Support Abuse Claims
Further testimony Thursday included statements from George Kaplan, Combs’ former personal assistant, who said he witnessed Combs physically assault Cassie on a private jet in 2015. Kaplan said he felt powerless to intervene but quit his job after seeing Cassie with a bruised eye following another violent encounter.

Celebrity makeup artist Mylah Morales also testified, recalling a 2010 incident during Grammy weekend when she saw Combs burst into Cassie’s hotel room. Moments later, she said, Cassie emerged with visible facial injuries.

Hotel staff also took the stand. Frédéric Zemmour, general manager of the upscale L’Ermitage Beverly Hills, testified that Combs frequently stayed under aliases like “Frank White” and “Frank Black”—names Cassie linked to the alleged “freak-offs.” Zemmour said hotel records showed Combs routinely caused damage involving hot wax and oils, and staff were instructed to deep clean the rooms after his stays.
