Pakistani actress Hania Aamir has officially appeared in the trailer for the much-anticipated Punjabi film Sardaar Ji 3, starring Diljit Dosanjh, effectively silencing weeks of speculation about her possible replacement.

The trailer, which dropped on Sunday evening via Diljit’s social media channels, confirmed Hania’s lead role in the film. Her inclusion had been under question following political tensions between India and Pakistan, particularly after the tragic Pahalgam attack on April 22, which led to renewed calls for a boycott of Pakistani artists in Indian media.

Despite the backlash, Hania Aamir remains part of the cast, joined by other Pakistani performers including Nasir Chinyoti, Daniel Khawar, and Saleem Albela. The film is scheduled for release on June 27, but it will premiere only in international markets. The filmmakers have opted out of releasing the film in India due to escalating diplomatic tensions.

In fact, the trailer is currently unavailable to viewers in India on YouTube. Those attempting to watch it are met with the message: “The uploader has not made this video available in your country.”

Earlier in June, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) urged the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to block the film’s clearance due to the involvement of Pakistani talent. In response, producers decided to forgo an Indian release entirely in an effort to avoid further controversy.

Although the film’s teaser and songs are still accessible online in India, the full trailer—featuring Hania—remains restricted.

Adding to the controversy, Hania Aamir’s Instagram profile has also been blocked in India, following backlash over her alleged remarks about India’s Operation Sindoor.

Her appearance alongside Diljit Dosanjh in Sardaar Ji 3 has sparked both praise and criticism online. As tensions between the two nations continue, her role in the film is likely to remain under public and media scrutiny.
